Miles for every €1 you spend
Earning Award Miles will be easier than ever. And we'll give them a short and simple name: Miles. As an Ivory member, you'll earn 4 Miles for every €1 spent (excluding government-imposed taxes and fees) on flights that are marketed as: Air Rrance, KLM, HOP!, Joon.
You can also earn 4 Miles for every €1 spent with these airlines on extra options, such as more comfortable seating, extra baggage allowance and "A la Carte" Menus. Treat yourself and earn extra Miles!
And, of course, you'll continue to earn Miles on flights marketed by our partner airlines. Want to know more about the conditions for earning Miles on each airline? Take a look at our airline partner overview for more information.
Do you have a Flying Blue co-branded credit card? You'll continue to earn Miles on everyday purchases.
Miles validity
All your Miles will be valid for life as long as:
- You take an eligible flight at least once every 2 years with AIR FRANCE, KLM, JOON, HOP!, Aircalin, Kenya Airways, TAROM or other SkyTeam partners, or
- You make a purchase with your Flying Blue co-branded credit card at least once every 2 years (except for JCB and Mitsui Sumitomo)
Miles validity: other partners
In addition, if you take a flight with any of the other Flying Blue airline partners, or stay with, rent a car with, or make use of any service from our commercial partners, you'll extend the validity of Miles earned with our other airline and commercial partners to 2 years.
Please note that only the validity date for Miles earned with commercial and other partners is extended, and not the validity date for other Miles.
A new way to move up to the next level
As of 1 April 2018, your membership level will be determined by Experience Points, or "XP" for short.
You’ll gain XP with every eligible paid flight you take with: Air France, KLM, HOP!, Joon, Aircalin, Kenya Airways, Tarom and Skyteam partners.
Gain XP on your flights
The further you explore the world and enhance your flight experience, the more XP you will get:
- You'll gain a fixed number of XP per flight
- The number of XP will be based on your flight type and cabin
Experience Points | Domestic | Medium (< 2,000 miles) |
Long 1 (= 2,000 - < 3,500 miles) |
Long 2 (= 3,500 - < 5,000 miles) |
Long 3 (= 5,000 miles) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Economy Class | 2 | 5 | 8 | 10 | 12 |
Premium Economy | 4 | 10 | 16 | 20 | 24 |
Business Class | 6 | 15 | 24 | 30 | 36 |
First Class | 10 | 25 | 40 | 50 | 60 |

How many XP will you gain? Here are a few examples:
- A return flight from Amsterdam to New York-JFK in Business Class = 60 XP
- A one-way flight from Nairobi to Oslo via Paris-Charles de Gaulle in Economy Class = 15 XP
- A one-way flight from Nice to Nantes via Lyon in Economy Class = 4 XP
Travel the world, gain XP, get to the next level – and unlock additional benefits!
You’re now an Ivory member. To reach the Silver level, you’ll need to gain 100 XP between 1 January and 31 December 2018. Of course, if you gain enough XP to move up to Silver before the end of the year, you'll be instantly upgraded. The moment you reach the next level, the 100 XP needed to qualify for Silver level will be deducted from your XP counter and the 12-month qualification period will restart.
If you have any Level Miles and/or qualifying flights on 31 March 2018, we will convert them to XP.
- 1,000 Level Miles = 5 XP
- 1 qualifying flight = 7 XP
The higher outcome determines the number of XP that will be added to your XP counter.

For example:
You have 3,000 Level Miles and 5 qualifying flights: 3,000 Level Miles = 1 XP and 5 qualifying flights = 35 XP, then the number of XP added to your XP counter is 35 XP.
Use Miles to book any seat
We know that many Flying Blue members like to spend Miles on flights, so from June 2018, you'll be able to use your Miles to book any available seat on flights with: Air France, KLM, HOP!, Joon, Transavia.
We'll calculate the number of Miles needed to book your ticket based on the origin, destination and date of your flight.
And, of course, you'll still be able to spend Miles on flights with our SkyTeam partners and other partner airlines. Want to know more about the conditions for spending Miles on each airline? Take a look at our airline partner overview for more information.
